Becca's Fab Five Shoes... because you can look good AND have fun at a moment's notice!

"Oooooooh what kind of shoes are those?"

I'm wide open about my foot obsession. I mean, after a full reconstruction with bone removal on the left and some wires and screws on the right I suppose I am justified. When I am looking for shoes, I have some serious criteria and I DO NOT COMPROMISE.

So, here’s the deal. My shoes can’t do any MORE damage to my feet. Shoes MUST meet these criteria (unless, of course, I’m getting all fancy shmancy and then all bets are off and sexy high heels are THE ONLY option):

  • Wide Toe Box- Nobody squishes my tootsies into a point!

  • Minimal or No Heel Lift- I only wear high heels when I'm being sexy sexy. Elevated heels on every shoe wreaks havoc on the calves, achilles, and more... plantar fasciitis anyone?

  • NO Flip Flops! My shoes must have a back on them to allow my toes to operate the way they were designed to work. This helps prevent Hammer Toes and all sorts of Big Toe Issues.

  • Cute but also Functional- If I can't break into a run at any moment, it's not a shoe for me. What good is a shoe that prevents you from having fun at a moment's notice?

Becca’s Fab Five (Everyday) Shoes

  1. Xero Shoes: All the Xero shoes are fabulous! I have several different kinds and pairs of them stashed everywhere. I once ran more than 2 miles on a trail in the Lena because we lost someone on a hike. I climb trees, do hikes with my kids, work in my yard, and (with my clean pair that I keep in the box) walk around town in all of my Xero shoes. I love the Cassie, Boaty (go up a 1/2 size), and Lena. Be sure to check out the KIDS PRIO if you need a great shoe for your youngster!

  2. Sanuk Pair O Dice: These slip ons are THE CUTEST! They have a gentle but snug fit to keep them in place and they are TOUGH TOUGH TOUGH. I can’t count the number of times my 2 yr old has taken off down the street on his scooter and I’ve slipped these on to sprint after him. They are just perfectly made to slip ON but not slip OFF. It’s Sanuk magic, I suppose. The Pair O Dice come in a million colors and even at full price are not super pricey, but there is always some color on super sale and that’s the color I always love… LOL!

  3. LEMS Boots: Hiking boots are the most expensive shoes I own but since they are my go to hiking boot, I’m not trying to skimp here. LEMS Boulder Boot is hands down AH-MAZING. These shoes are beautifully constructed and durable AF.

  4. Altra Kayenta: Running perfection DOES exist and it is called the Altra Kayenta. I found these after a client suggested the Altra Escalante, which I totally LOVED and still do. The Escalante was the first running shoe I had ever put on and felt like they were made for me. They were so comfortable, but not perfect for running for me (a forefoot runner with a good bit of speed). The Escalante felt a bit sloppy to me at faster paces. A little research brought me to the Kayenta which featured the same comfort with more structure. In other words, PERFECTION.

  5. Blowfish Balla Wedge: You can hardly call this a wedge. It doesn’t meet my criteria exactly but it is so very very cute and for a sandal it is pretty damn good. I love the canvas comfort in the toe box and the “wedge” part is very low. My feet never feel smushed and the material wraps around the whole foot preventing bad toe movements that create ugly frankenfeet in your later life. I have the Balla Wedge in several colors and it looks great with tons of my Not exercising, Not hiking, Not working in my yard outfits :-)

That pretty much sums up my whole shoe repertoire. I have multiple colors of all of these. Each shoe here stands up to my go go go lifestyle and I feel confident recommending them all. Happy Feet make everything better, after all!
